In 1997, I earned my Bachelor of Special Studies from Cornell College with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. Always with a focus on serving the community, I concentrated my efforts in areas concerning social psychology, criminal justice, and Indigenous/Multi-cultural Studies. Rather than going directly into graduate studies, it seemed most appropriate to put into practice what I learned. While working with those with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), trauma related issues, geriatric and general medical social work, the path became clearer.

In 2002, I enrolled in The University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work. I earned my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver’s clinical track in Adult Mental Health in 2004.

The pursuit of my passion to serve the community led me to begin—stumble into is more like it—a career with helping those who had committed sexual offenses in 2005. Since then, I have continued to learn by completing over 40 hours of additional training required by the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) to enhance and expand my service capabilities for clients. A component of my training in 2006 included becoming a certified PPG Examiner through Behavioral Health Institute.

In 2008, Colorado’s Board of Social Work Examiners granted me a License in Clinical Social Work (number 996). Since 2012, I have been a SOMB Full Operating Treatment Provider. My desire to serve the community in a greater capacity led me to become a SOMB Approved Clinical Supervisor in 2018.

I do what I do because social change occurs on the local level. Serving the community, especially those who are marginalized, stigmatized, and underserved—is my passion. I get up energized each morning knowing I have my fellow partners of ARRT alongside me to achieve these aims.
